- A custom is an edited copy of one of our clothing templates.
- We leave a custom alone if you own the original item, keep the custom off sale and to yourself, and only make the kinds of edits listed in section 4.
- Political content, damage or dirt effects, changed proportions and redesigns are not accepted.
- These guidelines are not permission. If a custom causes problems we may still ask for it to be removed, and we will always contact you first.
1. What these guidelines cover
These guidelines apply to any clothing made by editing, tracing or re-uploading a template or texture from Red Dawn Apparel or Arrington Mills Manufacturing. We call this a custom.
They do not cover clothing you design yourself from scratch, even if it shows the same uniform as one of ours. That is your own work. The IP Guide explains the rules that apply to it.
2. Our position
Law Our clothing templates are original artwork, protected by copyright. Making an edited version of a copyrighted work is one of the rights that belong to its owner (17 U.S.C. §106(2)). So a custom needs our permission.
Our policy We would rather players wear the official versions: customs bypass our storefronts and can make our designs look inconsistent. But editing is part of the community, and we want to be fair about it. These guidelines set out when we will leave a custom alone.
Following these guidelines is not a license or permission. It means we normally won't ask for the custom to be removed. We can still ask for removal at any time, for example if a custom is being sold or harms our designs' reputation. Permission is only ever given individually and in writing (see section 7).
3. Requirements
A custom must meet all of these:
- You own the original. The account uploading the custom must have bought the original item first. For a rolled-sleeve version, that means the sleeved original it is based on.
- Personal use only. Keep the custom off sale: don't sell it, give it away, add it to a group store or use it to make money in any other way.
- Don't share it. Don't pass our template, or your edited file, to anyone else.
- Follow Roblox's rules. The custom must meet Roblox's Terms of Use and Community Standards.
Roblox rules Roblox lets you upload classic clothing without selling it: an item only goes on sale when its "On Sale" setting is switched on. As of October 2026, uploading costs 80 Robux per item and needs ID verification or a linked parent account (classic clothing, fees).
4. Edits we accept
- Anthropomorphic fits: adjusting the clothing to fit anthropomorphic or creature avatars, as long as the original design stays recognizable.
- Boots and gloves: changing boots or gloves while keeping the rest of the design.
- Patches: adding or changing patches and similar small insignia.
- Rolled sleeves: making a rolled-sleeve version of an item we don't offer one for, if you own the sleeved original.
- Military details: edits to military details should suit the uniform. Please check the real regulations of the country and period as best you can. This is advice only: we don't expect expert knowledge.
5. Edits we don't accept
Unless the change comes from our own storefronts:
- Political content: adding political messages, slogans or symbols of any side. Insignia that are already part of our design are fine.
- Damage and wear: torn sleeves, heavy wear or other effects that make the clothing look lower quality.
- Dirt, blood or sand: any soiling or battle-damage effects.
- Changed proportions: changing the cut or size, such as very short shorts or crop tops.
- Redesigns: turning the garment into a different design, for example making a closed-front jacket open-front.
6. How we handle problems
- We contact you first. If a custom doesn't follow these guidelines, we will message the creator through Roblox, Discord or the best way we can find, and explain what needs to change.
- You have 7 days to change the custom or take it down.
- If nothing changes, or the custom is being sold or shared, we may send Roblox a copyright removal request under its Intellectual Property Guidelines. Roblox then decides whether to remove it.
We only send removal requests when we believe in good faith that our work is being used without permission. If you think we have made a mistake, please contact us first. You also have the right to send Roblox a counter-notice; the IP Guide explains how.
7. Asking for permission
If you want to do something these guidelines don't cover, such as using a custom in a group or game, ask us first. Email pointcastle@castleshell.com with:
- your Roblox username, and your group if it's for a group;
- which of our items you want to edit, with a link;
- what you want to change, and how the result will be used.
Permission only counts when it is given in writing by pointcastle or Sabot_Shell. Please allow 5 to 7 business days for a reply.
8. Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines. The version and date are shown at the top of this page, and every change is listed below.
| Version | Date | Changes |
|---|---|---|
| 2.0 | Oct 5, 2026 | Rewritten in plain language. Defined what counts as a custom; explained the legal basis; made clear that following the guidelines is not permission; added how we handle problems and how to ask for permission. The requirements and the accepted and not-accepted edits are the same as version 1.0, with examples added. |
